Los Luchadores
This is a series of paintings
of imagined luchadores
I completed in 2010
Luchadores compete in Mexico's version of pro wrestling,
called Lucha Libre,
where the mask has a special,
symbolic reverance.
Although the outcome is
just as scripted,
the matches themselves
are a more high-flying,
acrobatic affair.
I also did illustrations
of these beforehand.

Luchadores generally fall
into two categories.
Technicos are the good guys,
who I placed on top row.
Rudos are the bad guys,
and I placed them on the bottom row.
